Hemal, really depressing to read this experience from you because I've read it numerous times now from writers with both "left leaning" and "right leaning" viewpoints.

My guess is you do have some sort of audience based on your prior work. While you are looking for a new job my only advice would be to start a newsletter on substack, revue, or some other similar platform and cultivate your relationship with this audience.

No matter what publication you work for they will always protect the interests of the shareholders over their employees. I think traditional media for the most part is destroying themselves in a lot of ways. Check out what Casey Newton is doing with Platformer.

I wouldn't invest too much time here on Medium since I think the company will fold in a few years. Start and work on your own thing while you look for the next gig.
